The Museum of Modern Awesomeness.

It took me 15 months, but I finally made it to the MoMA!  I spent the afternoon with some of my good pals, Monet, Warhol, Klimt, Van Gogh.. just hanging around [get it?? get it??] :) I'm a museum geek- have gone to the Met more times than I can remember, so I was excited to get to see new pieces and new styles!  Here are a few of my favorites..

A few pieces in there had me thinking.. "really??".  There was a blank white canvas by some guy.. really?? And a pile of bricks in another room... hmm.  That's a stumper, right there.  I guess the age-old question remains, "What is art?".

On the whole though, I walked out today entirely inspired.  Who know's, maybe I'll grab some paint brushes, and stick them in a plastic case, too :)

Roommate Christmas.

I already miss Christmas so I'm posting some picts of my roommates' and my gift-giving night.. love these girls, and the presents :) Nerf guns (how awesome is that..), peppermint bark (my favorite candy in the worrrrrrld), egg nog baking mix (yes, for crepes, cookies.. ), and cute stockings and earrings.  Pretty good loot, hmm?

T minus 11 months! ps, how cute was our little tree??

Elephant on my mind.

Another cold day, another art project! I'll take full advantage of a night in if I can get creative...

I saw this cute poster at Urban Outfitters but didn't like the price... SO, I decided to replicate :)

Next up, a giraffe.  Then a lion?  Happy creating!

Finally it snowed!

Winter is officially here! For the first time this unseasonably warm winter, it snowed yesterday.  Pretty, white, fluffy snow.  I've been under the weather but decided that the occasion constituted a walk through Central Park where I was able to document.  The weather is expected to warm up a bit so the snow won't last long.. need to get pictures while I can!

I'm still learning to appreciate cold weather.. but I do like snow, at least before it gets slushy and dirty, so I hope to enjoy it as long as I can.  Tonight though, I'm cuddling up on the couch, hot cocoa in hand.. I can enjoy the snow again tomorrow :)

Here's to staying warm!

Silk scarf project.

My mother is an incredible artist and every time I go home, I try to take full advantage of her talents and art supplies :) This past Christmas, we took on the project of painting silk scarves.  I love love love color and all things Barcelona (I used to live there) so decided to attempt the scarf version of Park Güell (Gaudi's park over looking the city that's full of mosaic tile- pretty spectacular).  My blog title is one of those mosaic pieces! Take a peak at my attempt, and no judgment :)

The inspiration..
Step 1: the sketch
Sister and I at work.
Step 2: getting the tiles right
The finished product!

Love getting to be creative, until the next project!

Brother dearest.

Two weeks from today, my younger brother gets home from his mission! The negative, he's going home [to California].. and I won't be there, BUT as luck would have it, he has a layover at JFK airport!! So at 6am, on February 1st, I'm going to hightail it to JFK and hang out with him for a few hours! I don't think I've been this excited about something in a long time.  That boy is that absolute greatest and as happy and proud as I've been of him serving these past two years.. I'm so excited to get him back [well, at least state-side] where I can at least call him, and see him at least once in a while.
Eric and I with baby Bridge 17 years ago!

Couldn't ask for a better one..

My brother has been serving in the Rosario, Argentina mission for our church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  He's been an incredible missionary, helping the people of the region and sharing with them the Gospel.  He's one of the best guys I know, so funny and happy and I know he's done amazing things in Argentina.

Love you, Eric! See you in a few weeks!!

The weekend I fell in love with DC..

It happened, it did.  I never thought it'd happen with another East coast city, but friends, it has.  I love DC!! DC is charming and cute, but still maintains that city vibe that I need and love.  I especially loved Georgetown and old town Alexandria, VA, and my favorite museum of all time, the National Air and Space Museum.  I'm smitten..
Quaint Logan Circle. I want any and all of these houses.. so much character!

My lovely, Kaisha, looking quite at home..

Just me and that little home they call the White House

We struggled to get the monument in the shot..

National Air and Space Museum.. I love space. A LOT.

We were starved.. and there was a Micky Ds inside the museum. Love me a Big Mac once in a [rare] while.

Which came first? The DC subway or Star Wars franchise?? Mr. Lucas, I'm talking to you..

Really enjoyed the trip, short as it was.  Can't wait to go back in summer when it's hot and sticky warmer out!
